Better Days

The funny thing about having kids is that some days can be so... bad and others can be totally wonderful. The reality (for me) is that most days are somewhere in between.

Thankfully, the last few days have been quite good. When the kids have their naps and go to bed easily I find that the whole day is just that much better. They are happier and I am happier. The last couple of weeks I have found it quite difficult to get Calvin to bed. He's tired and wants to sleep but he keeps coming out of his room, wants snuggles, etc. We had a couple really rough days where I fought getting him to bed for nearly two hours. He has always been pretty good at going to bed so this was very out of the ordinary. Anyways, I have been so thankful that he has gone to bed easily for both naps and bedtime the last couple of days (not coming out of his bedroom even once). Yahoo, victory is mine! Sarah has also been very pleasant sine the "incident," praise God for that. So life continues to tick along for us.

David has worked from 9am-10pm the last couple of days, working his regular hours all day and then putting on tasting events in the evening. So the days have been a little long (for all of us).

The kids and I have been getting to know our neighbours these past couple of weeks. I continue to be amazed at how outgoing and fearless both kids are. They will go up to anyone on the cul de sac, go right into peoples garages and houses, hang off the two dogs on our street, jump into people's arms, etc. After meeting someone once, Calvin insists on going back to "say hi" when we go outside. A couple of neighbours have already given the kids their old toys which have made them immediate favourites on our cul de sac. Amazingly, there are 6 girls between the ages of 12-16 all living on our little cul de sac. Even better, they have all shown an eagerness and willingness to baby-sit. Yahoo!! God is good indeed. Now it's time to plan a date night.
