Just a few photos that I took this morning of our darling baby girl.

Paska

We enjoyed our first batch of paska this week. It only took two days for all three loaves to be eaten up. We love this recipe http://www.mennonitegirlscancook.ca/2009/03/paska-lovellas-recipe.html. It's not the traditional recipe that I'm used to, the one that my oma makes. However it's super tasty. I made a cream cheese icing and added coconut extract. So good!

We've been talking a lot about Easter this week. It's so hard to explain the meaning of Easter to toddlers. In Sarah's mind, Jesus is just a baby (Christmas wasn't that long ago). She can't seem to understand how he was just a baby and then he grew up, let alone died and rose again. Sarah keeps asking where Jesus is and why we can't see him. So many hard questions and no easy to understand answers.

Lauren Jumps

Lauren is loving the jolly jumper! The only problem is that she can only go in it when the other two are sleeping otherwise things seem to get out of hand really fast. Lauren also rolled over for the first time on Friday. She's also giggling and really responsive. Love this age!

Joshua Tree National Park

Today we went to Joshua Tree National Park, which is about 45 minutes from Palm Springs. The desert was beautiful, in that rustic old west kind of way. The Joshua trees were actually really amazing and the many rock formations were often breath taking. It was a cooler day in Palm Springs but it was even colder and more windy up in the mountains. About a half hour into the National park we experienced a snow storm. Snow in the desert, who knew!?! Just seemed so odd. Since it was pretty cold the kids stayed in the van most of the time. Lots of great photo opportunities though. Another great family experience!

Palm Springs

Our family is currently in Palm Springs for the week. I always wondered why so many people came here to vacation. Now I get it. The heat, the palm trees (always make me smile) and swimming pools. When it's cold and wet back home in BC, why wouldn't someone want to come here. We rented a cute 3 bedroom house with our own private swimming pool in the backyard. It's been our paradise for the week! It's complete with grassy lawn areas, lemon and grapefruit trees. We drove down on Sunday morning and arrived Monday afternoon. The drive is a long one but it went amazingly well. My mom and cousin Debbie joined us which has been awesome as well!

Lauren is 4 Months

Our little miss Lauren is 4 months today. What a sweetie she continues to be! She is "talking" baby talk, is alert and so responsive. She's trying to roll over and move. Sarah and Calvin love talking to her and giving her baby toys. She is one loved little girl!

Little Miss Plumber

The other day when Sarah was playing "kitchen" she told me that her sink was broken (it's a real sink, just doesn't work). So she got down and hammered away until she "fixed it." Cracked me up.

Sarah Plays

Here are a few photos from yesterday. Lauren was napping and Calvin was on the couch feeling sick (poor little guy). With the sun finally shining, I went outside with Sarah for a few minutes to take some pics. This months photography club challenge is outdoor portrait.

Playing Peek a Boo from the play house.

Sarah Makes Cupcakes

The other day Sarah and I made cupcakes (with the help of Betty Crocker). She put all the ingredients in herself and even filled the cupcake liners. She told me that I had to take her photo since she was a big girl. Yes Sarah, you are indeed becoming a big girl.

She may or may not have had a few licks of the spoon.

Lauren says hi too!

Granville Island

On Sunday we went to Granville Island with Michael and Rebecca. I love the sights, sounds and scents of markets. Sarah loved chasing the pigeons and spending time with her aunt and uncle.

Berries, yes please.

There was another little girl feeding the pigeons. Sarah was thrilled that she shared some of her bird seed with her. Calvin was feeling sick so he spent most of the time in the stroller, poor boy.

Signs of spring were everywhere. It doesn't seem like spring is really near, so I had to get some photos that reminded me that it was indeed coming.

A Bubble Bath

After a bit of a crazy day with the kids it was great to laugh and watch them have fun in the bath. This was hands down the funniest bathtime yet! Normally I post pics on our blog straight out of the camera, but I'm attempting at doing a little more editing before posting. Thanks to our Moms with a Camera club for inspiring me to take better pics of our kids.

The above pic of Sarah made me laugh so hard at bathtime. None of the pics are set up at all, just our kids being themselves. So funny!!

In this pic I tried getting up high for a different angle (stood on the counter). I like how it shows their play. Not sure what they were talking about.

Goofy Calvin, love this one!

Bubbles in the eyes. We always keep a towel beside the tub so the kids (mostly Calvin) can wipe his eyes when necessary.

A great time was had by all. This was Sarah singing at the end of the bath. Strange...yep.
