Elephant Line Up

Calvin was playing with his animals. I saw shadows.  I adjusted the two and got this image.  Light can be truly spectacular!

Happy Halloween

It was raining but we decided to go out anyways, and so glad we did! We had a great time trick or treating and hauled a pretty good sized loot.  Since it was really wet, I just brought my camera out for the first few houses in our cul de sac and then I dropped it off at hoe.  This above image was my favourite photo, love these three!

Lauren was a big fan of trick or treating! She was giving her bucket the death grip all evening. If you took away her candy she would cry.

And a couple of night time pumpkin shots.  I couldn't decide if I should go black and white or stay colour. Not loving the orange colour casts on the skin, but the orange is just part of pumpkins and Halloween.

Pumpkin Carving

October 30
Debbie, Michael and Rebecca were all over for dinner on Tuesday.  After we ate we brought out the pumpkins for carving.

A pull back from what was going on (thanks David). I love how Lauren is happily clapping at what was going on.

All done!  I just realized that I didn't get a pic of all three of our pumpkins at the end. After we lined the three pumpkins up we noticed that they all had different shaped eyes and noses (squares, triangles and circles).  Kind of funny, you can tell the kids have been learning about shapes.  One more sleep until Halloween!

Making fall Treats

We made caramel corn!  The kids were fascinated with the air popper, hadn't used that thing in years.

We also made caramel covered apples.  Much cheaper than the candy shop and fun to make too.  Getting all those caramels peeled was a full family event.

Calvin's Third Birthday Party

Pics to Come

Calvin is Three!

October 22
Calvin turned 3 today!  The day he was born will always be etched in my memory.  He touched my heart from the moment that I laid eyes on him. He continues to be a mamma's boy who loves his daily hugs and snuggles.  Can't believe he's growing up so fast!

He wanted a horse/ cowboy party, so we took these pics back at the end of September for his invitation and party decor.

Night Light Discovery

I put a night light in the hall. When Lauren woke up she walked out of our room and straight to the night light...yeah another low light opportunity! She was so amazed by it.

Reading with my Littles

Another image on my quest to get myself into more of my photos. I shot this using my tripod and self timer..not bad.  The kids love doing this sort of thing. As soon as the shutter snaps, they both run off the couch and see if it's a good one or not.  I've been loving creating more moments like this with the kids and have enjoyed seeing the rewards of really including them in my photography.  They seem much more inclined to get in the shot when they are involved in making it happen.

A Walk in The Woods

I think I may be in love with the park near our house. It's huge; with a river running through it, large forrests, open meadows and fields.  It's a photo loving momma's dream!  Anyways, David was working (Again) and I needed to get out of the house with the kids, so we went on a little adventure through the forrest.  Lauren was happy in our baby back pack and the other two enjoyed walking through the trails and over bridges.  Calvin loved collecting leaves.

Moss is so....easy to photography!  Kids are not easy at all!

At the end of our walk we discovered this out house toliet. Before I had a chance to protest, Calvin had his pants down and was going to the bathroom.  Of course I had to snap a photo!

Shower

As a part of the workshop that I was doing, one of the challenges was to intentionally take photos in a room of your house that you have never done so before.  Hmm, I love taking photos indoors so there wasn't a lot of rooms left (still have a a few to go though).  Anyways, I chose your ensuite.  I felt a little funny taking these pics, but it really isn't any different than the bath.  I found this really challenging since the shower gets steamy so fast, not to mention finding the good light and using it well.  Like how these turned out.

Ipod play

I've been enjoying using hard light sources in my photos these days.  The kids sure do love playing on our Ipod, made for a super easy photo op.

Power Outage

The power went out today just as David was prepping dinner. Go figure, he's finally home to take a turn cooking dinner and then the power goes out. So he headed to Fresh Slice and we had pizza for dinner.

As a child, I used to love it when the power went out. It meant board games, forts and flash lights, which are all seriously fun!  So I pulled out some blankets and a lantern and we built a fort behind the couch in the living room.  So glad I've discovered low light photography these days!  I saw a great opportunity for another fun shot.

Pitter Patter

October 14
It's been raining a lot lately.  I love the way the rain is streaming down the window and the mesmerized look on Calvin's face.

Sleepy Boy

This little guy was all tuckered out after a busy day.

Going to the Pumpkin Patch with Sarah's Class

October 12
My mom baby-sat Calvin and Lauren and let me have a special time just with Sarah (and her class) at the pumpkin patch. The weather wasn't great, but we enjoyed it anyways.

Night Fort

Love this pic of Sarah laying in her fort before bed.  These pics are challenging me and I'm loving it!

Experimenting with Light Sources

I've been having fun with the kids while using light differently in my photos.  They love getting to stay up a little later for photo fun in the evening.  Since David's been working late a lot, it's been nice to have something fun to do with them in the last half hour before bedtime.

Lauren in the Leaves

October 13
We were all playing in the cul de sac this afternoon. One of our neighbours has a huge tree that drops a ton of leaves each fall, so I thought I would sit Lauren down and get a few photos.  In the below shot she's making sounds with her lips.  She's always doing that, glad I got it with the camera.

The above pic complimentes of Sarah.

Lauren discovered the joy of ride on toys today. She was LOVING it!  Either sitting on the cars or pushing them around the cul de sac.  Super cute!

Shadow Play

I've been taking an online photography workshop about using light indoors.  It's really helped me see light differently as well as my home as a great place full of photo opportunities.  Seriously loving photography these days!
