San Juan, Puerto Rico

I never thought that I would visit Puerto Rico. After all, what's there to see and do in Puerto Rico? Well, apparantly quite a lot. I did some research on San Juan before the trip and at first glance it appeared to be a dud port. Other travellers talked about the town being not very nice or interesting. So I checked it out a bit more to make sure we wouldn't be missing anything. Our original idea was to go to some outdoor caves but they ended up being too far away.

So we all rented a mini van and set out to discover the rain forrest of Puerto Rico. It ended up being beautiful and we all enjoyed the adventure.

We went up the look out tower to check out the amazing views of the rain forrest. The above pics were taken of three seperate windows in the tower, I then put them together as a set.

We bought a used child backpack for the trip which ended up being very useful (thanks kijiji). We're still using it for trips to the mall, grocery store, etc. Since our kids are runners, anything that keeps them contained is a good thing.

After our rain forrest adventure we had the car rental company drop us off in the town of Old San Juan. We wandered the coblestone streets and checked out the fortress at the top of the town. An amazing view and a lovely town. San Juan didn't disappoint. In fact, the only thing we were disappinted with was the lack of time on the island. We could have easily spent another 1-2 days checking it out.
