Day 7 II: PEI

We arrived in Prince Edward Island in the early afternoon. After a morning of heavy rain we thought our first day in PEI would be a bit of a downer, but the clouds parted and the sun came out! I have always wanted to see PEI and was so glad that we had the opportunity to come here. It really didn't disappoint in any way, the province is quanit and beautiful!

PEI is known as the land of Ann of Green Gables. Therfore, even though none of us are big Ann fans, we headed to Cavandish and Green Gables to see what all the hype was about.

Lucy Maud Montgomery's aunt and uncle's house in Green Gables, that inspired the setting for the books. In Cavendish there is a little "town" created to be Avonlea. We didn't go through the gates but had a look at what little Avonlea was like. Later that day we were driving back to our motel and saw Ann and her best friend Diana waving at the side of the road, photo opp!

The house where Lucy Maud Montgomery grew up.

There really are potato fields everywhere!
